Private, inland water stand up paddle board tour, for ages 14 to 70 in North Devon's 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty' (AONB) – taking in some of the most picturesque scenery the AONB has to offer – finishing in the centre of the Biosphere privately owned and managed by Christie Estates.
HEART OF THE BIOSPHERE PRIVATE SUP TOUR
North Devon’s Biosphere Reserve is a UNESCO-designated biosphere reserve in North Devon. It covers 55 square miles (140 km2) and is centred on Braunton Burrows, the largest sand dune system (psammosere) in England. The boundaries of the reserve follow the edges of the conjoined catchment basin of the Rivers Taw and the Torridge and stretch out to sea to include the island of Lundy. The biosphere reserve is primarily lowland farmland and includes many protected sites including 63 Sites of Special Scientific Interest which protect habitats such as culm grassland and broadleaved woodlands.
The tour is open to family groups and groups of friends. All the equipment is provided including wetsuits – the support vehicle will take you to the starting point and from the finishing point back to the tour’s original departure point via a spectacular beach drive from Crow Point on Braunton Burrows to Saunton Sands. There is a speed limit of ten miles per hour on the beach so you’ll have plenty of time to take in the scenery. Sarah Whiteley holds an exclusive permit from Christie Estates to operate a four-wheel drive vehicle on the beach in respect of Walking On Waves Surf Safaris and SUP Tours.
